The stimulus funds are intended to be fully used over three fiscal years.
A release from Gov. Mike Rounds’ office says state government used $71 million in stimulus funds to balance the budget for 12 months ending June 30 and another $88 million to balance the current budget, leaving about $65 million for the fiscal year beginning next July 1.
Of the total stimulus allocation, $282 million is for infrastructure such as roads and bridges, $181 million is for education; $132 million is for public assistance programs; $23 million is for public safety; and $14 million is for other necessary state services.
The quarterly report was sent to the federal government on Thursday — two days ahead of schedule.
