Bryan “Bob” Hisel Jr., 85, Centerville, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab, Aberdeen. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Wass Funeral Chapel, Centerville. Local arrangements are under the direction of Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen.
Bryan “Bob” Hisel Jr., 85, Centerville, died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Aberdeen Health and Rehab, Aberdeen.

He was born on Feb. 14, 1924, in Centerville to Bryan Sr. and Emma (Johnke) Hisel.
He graduated from Centerville High School in 1943.
From May 1943 to December 1945, he contributed to the war effort, despite a hunting accident at age 16 which took his left arm, as a civilian employee for the Department of Army Air Corps at airbases in Sioux City, Iowa, and Oklahoma City, Okla.
On June 12, 1947, he married Lucille Bowden.
They lived in the Centerville community their entire lives.
In 1953, they started Bob’s Shoe Store, which he continued to own and operate for nearly 50 years.
He was a member of Centerville Rotary Club, Chamber of Commerce and served several terms on Centerville School Board.
He was a member of First English Lutheran Church and later Scandia Lutheran Church.
He is survived by a son, Bryan and wife Julie Johnson, Mitchell; two daughters: Becky Andal and husband Luther; and Bonny Merxbauer and husband David, all of Aberdeen; 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters: Marlys Peterson, Centerville; and Dolly Snitselaar and husband Roger, Sioux Falls; a brother, Ray and wife Caryl, Beresford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2007, his parents, a brother, Marvin; and a sister, Vivian Osvog.
