WASHINGTON (AP) — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says she is comfortable in her position as President Barack Obama’s top diplomat and has been consistently involved in foreign policy decisions despite a fractured elbow that kept her out of the limelight for a month.
“I broke my elbow, not my larynx,” she told reporters Thursday, brushing aside speculation about a loss of influence within the administration.
Clinton said her relationships with the White House and Obama himself are fine, but she repeated her frustration with the vetting process for appointees to senior positions. She said that six months into the administration there are still unfilled critical posts at the State Department and elsewhere in government.
