NSU’s Don Meyer to receive ESPN award

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Northern State University men’s basketball coach Don Meyer has been named the recipient of a national sports award.
ESPN says Meyer will receive the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance at the sports network’s annual ESPY awards presentation on July 15 in Los Angeles. The program will air July 19 on ESPN.
Meyer lost part of his leg and battled cancer after surviving a near-fatal car accident. He was driving a car that collided with a truck last September.
In January, Meyer set a national record for career coaching wins in the NCAA men’s basketball.
