Irene Hohn, 88, of Letcher, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. Scripture service at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Irene Dorothy Hohn was born May 27, 1921, at Mount Vernon to Herman and Mary (Stampe) Sigmund.
She grew up and attended school in the Mount Vernon area and graduated from Hopper Consolidated School in 1940.
On Feb. 8, 1943, she married Norman Hohn. They lived at Hillside and later moved east of Letcher.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Women of the Moose.
She is survived by three children: Larry Hohn and his wife, Maribeth, of Mitchell; Jerry Hohn, Letcher; and Janice Buckley, Rapid City; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Sigmund and his wife, Frances, of Mount Vernon; one sister, Beverly Stemper, of San Diego; two sisters-in-law, June Hohn and Adeline Sprecher, both of Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an infant son, Wayne; one brother, Leonard Sigmund; one sister, Evelyn Hohn; and an infant grandson.
