Trail King Industries Inc. will temporarily shut down its West Fargo, N.D., and Brookville, Pa., facilities and consolidate its operations at Mitchell, according to a news release from the company.
The release said the action is in response to the ongoing economic conditions and “allows Trail King to better balance its production capacity with current market demand.”
“We remain committed to providing our customers with the highest quality trailer solutions in the market and look forward to a return to a full production schedule as soon as market conditions improve,” Trail King President Carol P. Lowe said in the release.
The West Fargo plant will shut down June 8 until Aug. 3. The Brookville facility will shut down June 8 until Sept. 14. Both locations will continue to provide normal parts and maintenance services during the temporary shutdowns.
Trail King Industries is a specialized trailer manufacturer. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Carlisle Companies, which is a publicly traded, global manufacturing company.
Since December, Trail King has announced layoffs affecting a total of 117 workers at its Mitchell plant, which reduced the plant’s workforce to 320. At the West Fargo plant, the company reportedly laid off 36 employees in March, reducing the workforce there to 122. In Brookville, layoffs have reportedly affected 120 workers, bringing the workforce there down to 101.
