Patricia Carol Schlicht, 68, Wessington Springs, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Avera Weskota Medical Center, Wessington Springs.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Wessington Springs, with the Rev. John Paulson and Msgr. Edward Burian officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Wessington Springs. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Basham Funeral Home, Wessington Springs, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1940, at Wessington Springs to Dave and Inez (Taylor) Thompson.
She attended rural grade school in Hand, Beadle and Day counties and one year of high school at Webster.
In June 1955, she moved with her parents to Englewood, Colo., where she attended Englewood High School.
On Oct. 6, 1963, she married Les Schmidt at Lordsburg, N.M.
They lived at Davis-Manthan AFB, Tucson, Ariz.; Orlando AFB, Orlando, Fla.; Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan; and Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City.
In 1969, they moved back to Wessington Springs.
On Oct. 9, 1973, she married Smylie Schlicht at Luverne, Minn.
She became a bookbinder. Her husband died in 1987.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary.
She also was a member of Springs Country Club and was past president of the ladies league, serving two terms. She was the first woman to serve on the board of directors, serving two terms.
She is survived by a son, David Schmidt and wife Meredith, Bossier City, La.; a grandson and a great-granddaughter, a sister, Joy Kerber and husband Arnold, Golden, Colo.; a brother, Doug Nelson and wife May, Parker, Colo.; several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers: Don Thompson and Rodney Nelson; and a sister, Sharon Keney.
