Lee Miles Scott, 85, Wessington Springs, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at his home.Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Wessington Springs, with the Rev. Jan Price officiating. Military rites will be at the church by Willman-Fee American Legion Post 14. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Basham Funeral Home, Wessington Springs.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1923, in Dale Township, near Wessington Springs, at his parents’ home, to Gordon and Ethel (Husban) Scott.
In 1935, he moved with his parents to a farm in Chery Township.
He attended country school in Dale and Chery townships and graduated from Wessington Springs in 1941.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1945 and spent 19 months in the United States and Germany.
On Dec. 7, 1947, he married Irene Tschetter in Huron.
They farmed and ranched in Chery Township for more than 40 years.
In 1994, they retired and moved to their home in Wessington Springs.
He was a longtime township board member, camping club member, American Legion member, county leader of the NFO and a member of United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, two sons: Leighton and wife Sue, Wessington Springs; and Gordon and wife Monica, Fort Pierre; two daughters: Linda Scott, Honesdale, Pa.; and Tammy Scott, Yutan, Neb.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Neva Christensen, Aberdeen; and Lois Baker, St. George, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ralph; a sister-in-law, Wanda Scott; and two brothers-in-law: Harlan Christensen and Ray Baker.
