Letter: Please, don’t take away my paper

To the Editor:
I know that we all have to move forward with the times as does The Daily Republic with its online newspaper, but please, can’t we enjoy the small pleasures in life of holding in our hands and reading at our leisure the newspaper, anywhere we want? Does everything have to be done on the computer?

I moved up here by Gary almost two years ago and still have The Daily Republic mailed to me. I enjoy reading it in hand and I won’t be accessing it online. I’ve tried to read the Argus Leader online and have little tolerance for the time it takes to move from article to article.

As far as “going green” my newspaper doesn’t go to waste. It starts my fire in the woodstove, it washes my windows, it wraps and insulates my hot dish when I go to potluck, it lies under my kid’s painting project and muddy boots, and last but not least, it can be recycled at your local recycling center! That newspaper has a multitude of uses. No guilt here.

No online E-papers for me! No, I’ll just take mine hot off the press, served up fresh, folded, rolled (however it comes). Just please don’t take away my newspaper!
