300 classic cars rolling into Mitchell for Outkasts on Saturday

The gleaming chrome and sparkling paint jobs of more than 300 customized classic cars will be on display Saturday in downtown Mitchell as the Outkasts Car Club hosts its eighth annual car show.

The show will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street and is free for spectators. There will be live music played by Starfire and Guy Vanderhoof outside during the car show, as well as a special appearance by Wolfman.

Cars from throughout the United States and Canada will participate in the show, with about 14 states and three provinces represented, said co-president of the Outkasts Car Club Mike Hale. He estimates the event will draw about thousands of spectators.

A model car contest will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and a children's hula hoop contest and swap meet will be held during the car show.

Following the car show, Cocktail Stevie and the Tablerockers will play a concert from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Corn Palace. Tickets for the concert are $5 each and will be available at the door.
