Wyoming FFA collects donations for SD ranchers
CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming FFA Association is collecting donations to help South Dakota ranchers whose cattle died in a blizzard earlier this month.
Local FFA chapters are dropping off collection cans at businesses throughout Wyoming.
The storm Oct. 4-7 dumped up to 4 feet of snow in places and killed 15,000-30,000 cattle. Wyoming FFA State Advisor Stacy Broda says some ranchers lost half of their herds.
The storm caused relatively little damage to cattle herds in Wyoming.
The Casper Star-Tribune reported donations from Wyoming will be collected through mid-November and delivered to the South Dakota Rancher Relief Fund. South Dakota sheep and cattle associations will administer the fund.
