Wynell Lynn Murphy

Wynell Lynn Murphy, 43, of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Thursday, October 10th, 2013 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls from a stroke related to a bacterial infection.

Wynell was born January 21, 1970 in Parkston, SD to Ervin and Judy Bietz, and has three brothers and one sister.

Wynell was married to Mick Murphy for 17 years. They meant in Minneapolis and were married May 31, 1996 in Delmont, SD. They made their home for 8 years in the greater Minneapolis area. Wanting to raise their children in a smaller town they moved to Sioux Falls in 2002.

Family was Wynell's focus in everything she did. Her favorite day included family time. In these recent months, she spent time watching Brittan play for the Harrisburg Tigers Volleyball Team, as well as Cale playing quarterback position on the Harrisburg North Middle School football squad. Her bright eyes would light up talking about her children. One of the family's favorite weekends together would be in Lincoln to see their Big Red Nebraska team play a home game. And family time often included friends. A vacation together, a shopping trip, golf outing or just a glass of good wine on the back patio. Time with her family and friends was gold in her pocket.

If Wynell wasn't with the family she was in her stained glass workroom creating. She took up the hobby from her Mother. Even Mother says "she is way beyond me". One prize piece was the Tiffany-style lamp she made for her living room.

Wynell attended grade school and high school in Delmont, SD. Receiving a BA in Mathematics from Southwest State in Marshall, MN. In 1998 she began her career with ESI-SAI In Minneapolis. Always in the accounting field, Wynell, currently was employed with Midland National Life.

Wynell and her family are members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Wynell is survived by her husband Mick and her two children Brittan (16) and Cale (12), her parents, Ervin and Judy Bietz, 4 siblings, Wanda (Jerry) Weber, Wayne (Jackie) Bietz, Wade Bietz, and William Bietz; many nieces and nephews, in-laws and other friends. And the beloved family dog, Ginger.

Wynell was preceded in death by all of her grandparents.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 1;00 to 6:00 at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls on Sunday and continue at the church at 6:30 with a prayer service at 7:30 pm. www.heritagesfsd.com
