Butte County Sheriff Fred Lamphere says the homemade bomb was about the size of a beverage bottle and had a fuse at the end of it. Highway workers found it Monday on state Highway 34 near Belle Fourche.

State and federal agents were called in to take the bomb to a safe area and detonate it. Lamphere tells the media that authorities have no suspects.
