SDSU softball to play in Mitchell this weekend
Due to unplayable field conditions and impending weather, the South Dakota State University softball team has moved its weekend series with Summit League foe Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis to Mitchell.
The Jackrabbits will now take on IUPUI at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday and at noon Sunday. All games are at Cadwell Park.
DWU track team not competing this weekend
The Dakota Wesleyan University track team will not compete this weekend. The Tigers were originally scheduled to participate in the Vance Butler Invite in Sioux Falls, which was canceled. After the cancellation
Wesleyan decided to head to the Dordt Invite in Sioux Center Iowa, but the event was also canceled.
DWU football adds nine players
Coach Ross Cimpl and the Dakota Wesleyan University football team have added nine more players to the 2014 recruiting class, it was announced Friday.
The newest group of signees includes linebackers Clark Butler, Chris Gollnick and Trevor Lundin, offensive linemen Zachary Dunn, Ben Gannon and Devin Seeger, defensive backs Heath Goodman and Nicholas Stevenson and fullback Austin Van Poole. This brings the total number of recruits signed in the 2014 class to 34.
DWU finished 8-3 last year, marking the third time in school history that the Tigers have won eight or more games.
Weather cancels SDSU-NDSU baseball opener
BROOKINGS (AP) — A snowstorm that passed through eastern South Dakota has postponed Friday’s home baseball opener between South Dakota State and North Dakota State.
The Jackrabbits announced that the scheduled doubleheader has been postponed due to adverse weather and field conditions. A make-up date has not been announced.
South Dakota State is next scheduled to host Indiana-Perdue Fort Wayne for a doubleheader on Sunday.
