4 MHS fastpitch players earn all-state honors

Four Kernel fastpitch softball players were given all-state honors for their efforts this season.

Senior infielder Jenna Skinner and junior pitcher/infielder Hallie Misiaszek were named to the first team, while freshman catcher/infielder Jayci Hinker and sophomore infielder Megan Zephier were named to the second team.

Mitchell finished the season 6-21 overall, going 1-3 in the state tournament.

USD men’s coach James to speak at Quarterback Club

The University of South Dakota’s first-year men’s basketball coach Joey James highlights the list of speakers at tonight’s Quarterback Club meeting at The Depot.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., and will also showcase Mount Vernon/Plankinton volleyball coach Darcy Deinert.

DWU volleyball falls in three sets

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The Dakota Wesleyan University volleyball team fell to Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Briar Cliff in three sets Tuesday.

Set scores were 25-17, 25-22, 25-12.

Briana Jung had 10 assists and six digs to lead the way for the Tigers. Taylor Spence chipped in with five kills and four digs. Sarah Kruse added six kills and Katie Vetch had five for DWU.

DWU (6-20, 0-10 GPAC) plays Trinity Bible College today in Ellendale, N.D.
