Walmart contributes $250K to Sioux Falls ballot question

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has contributed $250,000 to a Sioux Falls ballot question committee looking to help get a store built on the city’s south side.

The Argus Leader reported Building a Better Sioux Falls Inc. is supporting a ballot measure to have a new Walmart built at 85th Street and Minnesota Avenue.

The land rezoning decision will be on the April ballot because residents opposing the store collected enough signatures.

The company has said that it has made several changes to make the planned store a better fi t for the neighborhood, and that it has received positive feedback from the community.

Members of the Save Our Neighborhood group say they’re concerned about increased traffic and the transition from residential to commercial use.
