Wagner woman injured in crash
SPRINGFIELD — A Wagner woman suffered minor injuries in a crash Thursday outside Springfield.
Mary Monfore, 78, was driving east on 312th Street just north of Springfield toward a curve that connects the road to state Highway 37.
Lee Pofahl, 55, of Neligh, Neb., was driving a semi hauling an empty hopper trailer south on Highway 37. As he negotiated the curve to turn west onto 312th Street, he slowed down.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Monfore did not slow down for the curve, which was icy.
Monfore’s vehicle slid into the rear of the trailer, causing an unknown amount of damage to the trailer and Monfore’s vehicle.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belt.
There are charges pending against Monfore.
The Springfield Ambulance transported Monfore to Avera St. Michael’s Hospital in Tyndall for minor injuries. The Bon Homme County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
