Waddell, Scott compete at Central Zone meets
Mitchell Aquatic Club swimmers Cailey Scott and Tevyn Waddell recently competed in Central Zone meets across the midwest region.
Scott competed at the 14-and-under meet in Oklahoma City, Okla., while Waddell competed in the senior event in Minneapolis.
Waddell swam six events and won five, while setting three Central Zone records and junior national times. She set records in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 4.59 seconds, the 200 backstroke (2:17.67) and 100 butterfly (1:02.59).
Waddell took first and set a South Dakota record in the 200 freestyle (2:06.54) and won the 200 individual medley (2:25.73). Waddell, who was the individual high point winner for women, took second place in the 100 freestyle (58.92).
Scott participated in seven events, including two relay events with team South Dakota. Her best individual finish was 19th in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2 minutes, 41.72 seconds. She also competed in the 400 free (29th), 800 free (22nd), 1,500 free (23rd) and 400 individual medley (27).
