On Friday evening, Wessington Springs Mayor Melissa Mebius updated information and events going on in town this weekend.

While volunteers are still welcome, Mebius said groups of five people or more are no longer encouraged. If a larger group would like to volunteer in Wessington Springs, call Stacey Nelson at (605) 228-0817.

The distribution center moved Friday from the Wessington Springs elementary school to the Methodist Church, and the Red Cross served its last meal Friday night in Wessington Springs. In addition, toys will be handed out at 4 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall to kids 12 and under who were affected by the tornado. Mebius said more toys for boys and girls from age 5-12 are needed.
