Two suffer minor injuries in single-vehicle rollover
Two Minnesota residents suffered minor injuries from a single-vehicle accident Friday evening on Interstate 90.
According to South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Peterson, Carlos Alberto Lazo, a 55-year-old Red Lake Falls, Minn., resident, was driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee around 7:30 p.m. Friday night westbound on I-90, near mile marker 319, just west of the Mount Vernon exit. Peterson said the vehicle's rear passenger tire blew out, causing Lazo to lose control of the vehicle, which entered the median and rolled before resting on its driver's side.
Peterson said Lazo and a front-seat passenger, Maria Elena Lazo, 54, also of Red Lake Falls, had to be removed from the vehicle by emergency personnel, and suffered minor injuries. They were transported to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.
Peterson said both Lazos were wearing their seat belts, and no charges were pending.
The Highway Patrol, Mount Vernon Fire and Rescue, Mitchell Ambulance and the Davison County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
