Two injured in rollover crash near Platte
PLATTE -- Two people were injured in a rollover crash near Platte Saturday night.
Christopher Wise, 18, of Mitchell, was driving a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix south on 369th Avenue in Charles Mix County around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The road is a minimum maintenance road, said Capt. Kevin Joffer of the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The vehicle hit a dip in the road just before the intersection of 282nd Street and 369th Avenue. The vehicle vaulted over the intersection and rolled, landing on its roof, Joffer said.
Wise was wearing his seat belt and suffered no injuries. Speed was a factor in the crash, Joffer said.
Passengers John Brown, 20, of Mitchell, and Makayla Troll, 17, of Platte, were sitting in the front passenger seat and not wearing seat belts. They suffered minor injuries.
Charges are pending against Wise for careless driving.
South Dakota Highway Patrol, Charles Mix County Sheriff's Office and Platte Ambulance responded to the scene.
