Two injured in crash south of Chamberlain
CHAMBERLAIN -- One person was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital Friday after suffering serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Michael Patterson, 25, of Reliance, was driving a 2005 Chevy pickup south on 345th Avenue about eight miles south of Chamberlain when a 2001 Chevy pickup failed to yield on 257th Street. The 2001 Chevy, driven by a 16-year-old female from Pukwana, struck Patterson’s truck. Capt. Alan Welsh, of the South Dakota Highway Patrol, declined to give the juvenile’s name.
The juvenile suffered minor injuries and was wearing a seat belt. She was cited for failure to yield.
Patterson was not wearing a seat belt, Welsh said.
The Chamberlain Ambulance responded to the scene and transported Patterson to a hospital in Chamberlain. He was later airlifted to a hospital in Sioux Falls.
Brule County Sheriff’s Office, Chamberlain Fire Department and South Dakota Game Fish & Parks also responded to the accident.
