Two cited, none injured in Mitchell accident
Mitchell South Dakota 120 South Lawler 57301

Mitchell Police Officer Nick Jongeling said no one was injured in a Friday evening accident in the 1100 block of South Burr in Mitchell.

According to Jongeling, three vehicles were driving north on South Burr around 8:15 p.m. Friday, when Alexis Roth, 15, of Mitchell, and Natalie Kobes, 17, of Mitchell, tried to stop because of a vehicle in front of them. Jongeling said both vehicles, a 1999 Buick Regal driven by Roth and a 2013 Ford Focus driven by Kobes, hydroplaned. The Regal spun into a ditch off the roadway, while Kobes’ vehicle bumped into the 1998 Oldsmobile Achieve driven by Loni Grochow, a 31-year-old from Mitchell.

Jongeling said no one was injured, and there was only minor damage to the vehicles. He believed everyone was wearing seat belts.

He said Roth and Kobes were cited for overdriving road conditions — the streets were wet due to rain Friday night.
