Tabor routs Dakota Valley in Legion game

DAKOTA VALLEY - Kodi Larson hit two three-run home runs to help lift Tabor over Dakota Valley 28-6 in a Legion baseball game Monday.

Scott Wieseler was the winning pitcher, giving up four hits while recording five strikeouts in the final six innings. Blase Vanecek started for Tabor.

Mike Kocer had a triple and two singles in the win. Vanecek, Wieseler and Alec Weber each had three singles.

Tabor had 17 hits in the game and hosts Parkston at 7:30 p.m. today.

FCA Football Camp to be

held July 10-11

The South Dakota Fellowship of Christian Athletes are hosting a football camp July 10-11 for high school players at Joe Quintal Field in Mitchell.

The camp will feature high school and college coaches from the state, including DWU coaches and players. The camp is $20 per athlete and registration is July 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the stadium The first day begins at 6 p.m. and Thursday's session begins at 7:20 a.m.

The FCA Youth/Middle School Football Camp -- which is for grades 5 through 12 -- is July 11. The cost is $20 and runs from 10 to 3 p.m.

Registration begins at 9 a.m.

DWU fastpitch tourney canceled

The Dakota Wesleyan University softball team has canceled its fastpitch softball tournament this weekend.

DWU coach Ed Kieff announced the cancellation -- which was due to lack of participation -- Monday. The tournament was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Cadwell Park Sports Complex.

Mock sinks double eagle

Craig Mock, of Mitchell, recorded a double eagle the par-5 ninth hole Sunday at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell.

Mock recorded the double eagle after shooting a two on a par-5 -- or three strokes under par.

Mock used his driver on the first shot of the 465-yard hole and used a three-hybrid club to sink his double eagle, which was 230 yards out
