Trevor Greger named 1st team all MVFC
WAGNER -- South Dakota State University senior offensive lineman Trevor Greger was named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference Preseason Team Tuesday.
Greger, a Wagner native, was one of six Jackrabbit teammates named to the preseason team.
"It's a huge deal in a way because the Missouri Valley is one of the tougher conferences in the nation," Greger said. "It's just great to be picked to be apart as a player in one of the top conferences."
Other offensive SDSU selections were running back Zach Zenner, quarterback Austin Sumner and wide receiver Jason Schneider. Defensive lineman Cole Langer and linebacker T.J. Lally completed the list of Jackrabbits selected with Lally being named an honorable mention.
Greger has started 30 consecutive games at right tackle for SDSU in the past three seasons and said he will report for team camp on Sunday in Brookings.
"It feels great," Greger said about SDSU being picked to finish second in the MVFC. "But at the same time our goal is to finish higher than whatever our preseason pick is. We want to finish the season on top."
SDSU will open its season Aug. 30 at SEC runner-up Missouri. Greger said going into his senior season he is really looking forward to finishing his career strong.
"It's a little bittersweet," he said. "I've had a great career here but I am really only focused about this year. When it's finally over then I will have a chance to look back."
