Touch of Cajun burglarized
Mitchell South Dakota 120 South Lawler 57301

A new food business in Mitchell was burglarized between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

Touch of Cajun, a business that offers cajun-style food from a trailer at 315 E. Havens Ave., was broken into, Sgt. Ryan Erickson of the Mitchell Police Division said. The owner, Michael Dye, reported the back door of the office and storage building, which is near the trailer, had been kicked in and two laptop computers were stolen. The door was locked, Erickson said.

Each laptop was valued at $248 and he estimated the damage to the building cost $400.

Third-degree burglary carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.

Police don’t have any suspects and there was no other damage to the building or the food trailer.

Dye and his business partner, Sherrannia Billiot, started the business in August. They are Louisiana natives who recently moved to Emery. The restaurant has been serving up fresh seafood shipped by semi freight from the docks in Louisiana.
