YANKTON -- Dakota Wesleyan University golf coach Adam Anderson's women's program continues to dominate.

The Tigers won their sixth straight Great Plains Athletic Conference title Monday, giving DWU 11 titles in the past 12 years. DWU carded a 317 at the fourth qualifier to finish the season with a four-round total of 1,308, finishing 59 strokes ahead of Northwestern College (1,367). The Tigers earned their 11th straight berth to the NAIA National Championships, which is May 20-23 in Lincoln, Neb.

"It was as good of a performance as our first of the year," Anderson said, noting the golfers are fresher in the fall when they've been able to practice during the summer months. "I was very happy with it overall."

The Tigers recorded a 316 in their first GPAC qualifier at Wild Oak Golf Club in September.

DWU sophomore Lauren Fitts won her second consecutive conference individual title after carding a 77 Monday, which tied her with Northwestern's Taylor Malenke at Monday's round. Fitts finished with a 318 and six strokes ahead of teammate Chelsea Burback (324) for the GPAC crown. DWU has won the individual girls title for six straight seasons.

"Lauren wants to be a leader and loves being in that role," Anderson said. "She works hard and is very deserving of the title."

After four rounds, DWU's Jenna Winckler tied for fourth in the GPAC with a 332, while April Barnett took 10th with a 342.
