NSU men lead the nation in attendance again

ABERDEEN — The Northern State University men’s basketball team has led the country in attendance for six consecutive seasons.

Last season, a total of 54,383 people came to the Wolves games and an average of 3,199 people per game. The NSIC finished second in the nation in total attendance. Five other teams from the NSIC ranked in the top 30 in the nation for attendance, including Augustana (sixth), Southwest Minnesota State (16th), St. Cloud State (18th), Minnesota State (26th) and Winona State (30th).

DWU women raising funds for Make-A-Wish

Members of the Dakota Wesleyan University women’s basketball team are helping with the Oahe Dam celebration Saturday in Fort Pierre.

The celebration is donating proceeds to Make-A-Wish, which helps make wishes come true for area kids with life-threatening medical conditions.

The day includes a pork feed, auction, live music and fireworks, and all proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish.

Tiger players help Manitoba to silver

Three Dakota Wesleyan University softball players helped Team Manitoba to a silver medal at the Canada Summer Games this summer in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Senior pitcher Jill Dickson, junior utility player Danielle Klassen and sophomore catcher Hailey Unger helped the team to an 8-1 record.

Team Manitoba lost 9-1 to British Columbia in the gold-medal game.
