Tom was born April 3, 1928, to Thomas Phillip Anglin and Frances Susan (Kellen) Anglin. Raised on the family farm 4 miles SE of Polo, he attended St. Liborious grade school and Fairview High School in Polo graduating as Valedictorian of his class in 1946.
Tom had a great love of baseball and especially the Minnesota Twins - he played American Legion and Amateur League baseball through high school and until the year he married at age 33.
Joining the US Army in February 1951 during the Korean conflict, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant nine months after boot camp, stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in December 1952. Tom liked to dryly comment that "he never let one North Korean get past him while serving in Germany". After serving in the army, Tom returned to farm with his father and brother Harley. He also worked part time for the Hand County ASCS office in Miller for over 30 years. A life member of the Knights of Columbus for 66 years, he recently received a plaque for 52 years of service as the Treasurer. Tom was also a member for many years of the American Legion and served on the Hand County Library Board.
Tom met the love of his life, Frances Angela Caparelli in 1961. After a short, whirlwind romance, they were married in February 1962 at St. Patrick's Church in Council Bluffs IA. To this happy union were born six living children.
A great lover of books, Tom was a self-educated man - he loved to read anything. Known for his dry sense of humor, he also enjoyed singing ditties and jingles to his children and grandchildren as well as shaking dice with the coffee crew and playing sheep-head with anyone that was willing. Tom deeply loved his Catholic faith and everything about his religion.
