Thelma J. Sudbery, 92, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Good Samaritan Village. Her gentle, loving nature and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Thelma was born April 14, 1922, in Mitchell, SD to Joseph and Sophia Hoeltzner. On January 21, 1946 she was united in marriage with Dale Sudbery in Mitchell, SD. They moved their family to Sioux Falls, SD in 1967. She worked as a bookkeeper for Tempo and Half Price Stores, retiring in 1997. She was also very active in Aid Association for Lutherans, serving as treasurer for many years for one of the local chapters.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son Roger and his wife, Linda of Bellingham, WA; daughter Pamela of Sioux Falls; four grandchildren, Becky Carter (Matt Brunick) of Sioux Falls, Abigail DesJardiens (Matt) of Kenmore, WA; George and Kevin Sudbery of Bellingham, WA; five very special great-grandchildren, Hayley Rae and Lindsey Jean Carter both of Sioux Falls, Harper Jo, Julia Rose and Lyla Rae DesJardiens all of Kenmore, WA and a host of other relatives and friends.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband Dale in 2006 and her parents.

Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Zion Lutheran Church, 22nd and Spring Ave, in Sioux Falls with Reverend Greg Lehr officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hills of Rest Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. www.heritagesfsd.com.
