Teachers' children an issue in Sioux Falls
SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Teachers in Sioux Falls might soon lose the ability to watch their own children in their classrooms before and after school.
School district officials are worried about liability, and the school board is considering a policy that would ban teachers from the practice during the hours they're on duty — from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The policy would allow staffers to bring their children with them to school on weekends and at night, and during emergencies.
Teachers say having their children with them before and after school gives them more time with their children amid sometimes long hours.
School Board President Doug Morrison says nothing has been decided, and that the board wants to work with staff to make the right decision.
