Sylvester Weniger, 93, of Plankinton, SD passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD. Funeral Mass is 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Plankinton. A Committal Service will follow at Mizpah Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 5, 2013 with a 7:00 P.M. Wake Service. Mount Funeral Home of Plankinton is assisting with arrangements. Sylvester Weniger was born on December 13, 1920 to Leo and Alice (Polt) Weniger in rural Plankinton, SD. He graduated from Plankinton High School and went on to a career in farming. On January 27, 1957 he was united in marriage to Mildred Sorensen at St. Johns Catholic Church in Plankinton.
Syl was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, served on the township board and was a substitute mail carrier. He was a lifelong farmer - raising cattle and loved to travel with Mildred.
Grateful for having shared in Sylvesters life: his wife of over 56 years, Mildred Weniger of Plankinton, SD; a brother, Francis Weniger of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister-in-law, Margie Weniger of Yankton, SD; along with several nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Sylvester was preceded in death by: his parents, Leo and Alice; 2 brothers: Joseph (Marylou) Weniger and Lawrence Weniger; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Weniger.
