Strong storms cause damage in northeastern South Dakota
ABERDEEN (AP) -- Storms brought hail, strong winds and possibly tornadoes to parts of eastern South Dakota, causing damage.
The National Weather Service says wind blew over a pickup truck towing a trailer on Interstate 29 north of Peever on Sunday night. In Big Stone City, trees were uprooted, power lines were knocked down and some buildings were damaged. No injuries were immediately reported.
Hail as big as tennis balls fell throughout the region and there were reports of funnel clouds, including one that the weather service says might have touched down briefly near Peever.
The media reports that weather service officials will be determining whether straight-line winds or a tornado caused the damage around Big Stone City and Big Stone Lake and nearby Ortonville, Minn.
