State seeking donors for Laura Ingalls Wilder autobiography
PIERRE (AP) — The South Dakota State Historical Society is looking for donors toward the upcoming release of Laura Ingalls Wilder's autobiography.
The society says the work was hidden away since 1930 and reveals true stories of her pioneering life.
The book, "Pioneer Girl: The Annotated Autobiography," shows how Wilder transformed her girlhood into one of the greatest children's series of all time with the Little House books.
The state says research in census data, newspapers, county documents and land records of the 1870s and 1880s was an important part of the project. Read more about the project online.
