State prison inmates help clean up SD roadways
PIERRE (AP) -- State prison inmates are working on some roadside cleanup projects around South Dakota.
The state Corrections Department says seven minimum-security inmates began cleaning up along interstate highways in the Sioux Falls area on Monday. That project is expected to last several weeks.
Another 20 inmates began picking up trash along Interstate 29 near the South Dakota-Iowa border on Tuesday in a project expected to last two weeks.
Inmates from the women's prison will take part in a roadside cleanup project in Pierre on April 26.
