Stadium Bill signing set for Thursday at SDSU
BROOKINGS -- South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard is scheduled to hold a ceremonial signing for Senate Bill 15, authorizing construction of a new football stadium at South Dakota State University Thursday in Brookings. The bill signing is set for 10:45 a.m. at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium on the SDSU campus. The event is open to the public.
Scheduled to join Governor Daugaard for the bill signing are project benefactor Dana Dykhouse, South Dakota State University President David Chicoine and Director of Athletics Justin Sell.
Senate Bill 15, passed by the 2014 Legislature, authorizes construction of a football stadium for up to $65 million, financed by private funds and bonds paid from event operations. The new facility will be built on the site of Coughlin-Alumni Stadium over two years.
Following the bill signing, the media is invited for a tour of the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex, which is currently under construction.
In case of inclement weather, the bill signing will take place in the Champions Room of the Dykhouse Student-Athlete Center, which is located directly north of Coughlin-Alumni Stadium. Media members attending the event should park east of the Dykhouse Student-Athlete Center and enter the stadium through the northeast gate.
