South Dakota teen featured on 'Bridezillas'
A 19-year-old South Dakota resident was featured on the season 10 premiere episodes of "Bridezillas," a reality show on WE TV. Parts of the shows were filmed in the Mitchell area, including at the Village Bowl in Mitchell. The exploits of a woman identified as Ariel Smith were featured in the first two episodes of the show. The first episode premiered May 31. According to WE TV's website, it is scheduled to re-air at 1 a.m. today and 3 p.m. Saturday. The second episode is scheduled to air at 2 a.m. today, 6 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. Saturday, 9 p.m. June 18 and 1 p.m. June 20.
A description of the show on the WE TV website says that despite her youth, Ariel is "fully matured as a Bridezilla." The episodes document her meltdown at her joint bachelor/bachelorette party with her fiance, Brook, and her dissatisfaction with the red, white and blue color scheme at the Legion hall where part of her nuptial events were held.
In a June 3 blog entry, Smith writes: "When you ask people what Ariel Smith is like, they would tell you that I'm a very selfy (sic) person. I want the best of the best and no one else can have it. ... Being selfish is really what makes me a Bridezilla when, in fact, every bride should be a bridezilla on her wedding day."
