In Smart21 contest, Mitchell doesn’t hit Top7
TAICHUNG CITY, Taiwan — Mitchell is not one of the Top7 Intelligent Communities of the Year, according to the Intelligent Community Forum, a nonprofit policy research organization.
In October, Mitchell was named one of the world’s 21 Smart21 Communities by the ICF for the second year in a row, but the city was not among the seven finalists announced Thursday in Taichung City, Taiwan, the ICF’s 2013 Intelligent Community of the Year
The seven finalists for ICF’s 2014 Intelligent Community of the Year are Arlington County, Va.; Columbus, Ohio; Hsinchu City, Taiwan; Kingston, Ontario, Canada; New Taipei City, Taiwan; Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
“Each made it to the list by demonstrating how they have begun to fuse technology, culture and collaboration for economic sustainability,” said Lou Zacharilla, co-founder of the ICF, in a news release. “They have set a new course for other cities to follow.”
The ICF’s 2014 Intelligent Community of the Year will be named in June at the ICF’s annual summit in New York City.
