Sioux Falls volunteers pack 100,000 meals for children
SIOUX FALLS (AP) -- Around 500 people gathered at a local church in Sioux Falls on Saturday to bag more than 100,000 meals for hungry children in far off locales like Haiti and Nicaragua. Youth group leaders at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church put the event together. The leaders teamed up with an organization called Feed My Starving Children. The 100,000 meals bagged will feed nearly 300 children for an entire year.
Sydnei Olsen, of Sioux Falls, volunteered with her dance team. She told the media that taking two hours out of her time on a Saturday was an easy decision because the work would help those less fortunate. The meals will be shipped within the next few weeks to one of 70 countries the Feed My Starving Children organization works with.
