Sioux Falls to see more parks over next few years
SIOUX FALLS (AP) -- Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether is pushing for more city parks.
The Argus Leader reports three parks are planned to open this year, and Huether has recommended nine more within five years.
Huether told the City Council he wants to spend nearly $7 million on neighborhood and regional parks from 2014 to 2018. Most of the parks will be in the southern part of the city, which has seen large numbers of new residents in the past several years.
Land for most of the parks has already been purchased or is in the works to be purchased. More than $1 million has been set aside for land acquisition during the next five years.
