Shutdown puts sale of Yankton post office on hold
YANKTON (AP) — Officials say the government shutdown has put the sale of the Yankton post office on hold.
The Yankton Press and Dakotan reports that the federal website where the property was listed is not online because of the budget battle.
A voicemail message in the U.S. General Services Administration office says auctions will resume after government workers are allowed to return to their jobs.
Online bidding for the post office was originally scheduled to close this week.
The downtown Yankton post office was closed in January 2012 and put up for sale. Postal operations have been consolidated into a facility that was built in 2000.
