Shooting range proposed in Deadwood city limits
DEADWOOD (AP) — The Deadwood City Commission is deciding whether to approve a shooting range within city limits.
Businessman and retiring FBI agent Greg Vecchi wants to open the range in partnership with local campground owner Tom Blair. It would be in an area surrounded by high ridges, and Vecchi says test firing last week proved that noise would not be a problem.
Some residents have questioned whether the proposed shooting range might be better in a different location. Mayor Chuck Turbiville says he thinks the range would be safe and wouldn't affect nearby landowners.
