Funeral services for Sharon Kay Novak, 66, of Highmore, SD will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 16, 2013 at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Kimball with burial in Riverview Cemetery at Chamberlain. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm with a rosary/scripture service at 7:00 pm at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Kimball.

Sharon Kay Mashek was born February 5, 1947 at Mitchell, SD to Ralph and Bernadine (Spier) Mashek. She was raised, attended school, and graduated from high school in Kimball. She then attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion, SD and then earned an Associate Degree from Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, NE. On October 8, 1966, Sharon was united in marriage to Michael Novak at Vermillion, SD.

For nearly 30 years, Sharon worked in child care. She was a member of the Nebraska Family Child Care Association serving as President and was selected as the Nebraska Child Care Provider of the Year in 2008.

Sharon passed away on November 13, 2013 from progressive supranuclear palsy at the age of 66 years. Gratefully sharing her life are her husband Michael Novak of Highmore; mother-in-law Shirley Novak of Sioux Falls, SD; three sons Michael Novak of Gretna, NE, Bartley Novak of Omaha, NE, and Kristopher Novak and wife Jessica of Ceresco, NE; two daughters Maureen Novak of Omaha, NE and Heidi Velardi and husband Philip of Omaha, NE; two brothers Ronald Mashek and wife Robin and Randy Mashek all of Kimball, SD; four sisters Connie Stutts and husband Sandy of Phoenix, AZ, Jeanette Reifers and husband Chad of Scottsdale, AZ, Beverly Strand and husband Wyatt of Mitchell, SD, and Wendy Cummings and husband Mitch of Rapid City, SD; six grandchildren Grant, Grazia, and Ethan Novak, Seth Novak, and Gianna and Dominic Velardi; brother-in-law Gary Novak of Seattle, WA; and two sisters-in-law Pamela Letsche and husband Curt of Rochester, MN and Brenda Novak of Omaha, NE. Preceding her in death were her parents Ralph and Bernadine Mashek.
