SF Roosevelt, SF Christian, Warner win titles

RAPID CITY -- No. 3 Sioux Falls Roosevelt claimed the Class AA state volleyball title when it defeated No. 5 Sioux Falls Washington in straight sets Saturday in Rapid City.

Set scores were 25-21, 25-20, 25-16.

The Rough Riders had three players with double-digit kill numbers. Maggie DeJong led the team with 15 kills, Ashley Beaner recorded 12 and Tagyn Larson added 11 kills. Beaner also had 15 digs.

Roosevelt's Erinn Temple had 41 set assists, three blocks and two digs.

Emma Hanson led Washington offensively with 18 kills. Hannah Nieman had 30 set assists and Lexi Bordeaux added 12 digs and six aces in the loss.

Rapid City Stevens 3, Watertown 0

RAPID CITY -- No. 7 Rapid City Stevens defeated No. 8 Watertown 25-21, 27-25, 27-25 for third place at the Class AA state volleyball tournament Saturday.

Steven's was led by Skylar Larson with 19 kills, five digs and one ace. Anna Sykora tallied 33 set assists, 16 digs and three blocks.

Watertown's Macy Denzer and Ashtin McClemans had 13 kills apiece in the loss. Hannah Whitlock recorded 26 digs and Emily Pengilly had 30 assists.

Aberdeen Central 3, Sioux Falls O'Gorman 0

RAPID CITY -- No. 2 Aberdeen Central beat No. 1 Sioux Falls O'Gorman in straight sets for fifth place at the Class AA state volleyball tournament Saturday.

Set scores were 25-22, 25-21, 25-21.

Lauren McCafferty led the Eagles with 14 kills and nine digs. Kelsey Hannigan and Maddie Goetz recorded 18 set assists apiece and Meggie Hanson had 15 digs in the loss.

Delanie Stene led the Knights with 28 set assists and nine digs. Lauren Witte had eight kills.

Sioux Falls Christian 3, Dakota Valley 0

WATERTOWN -- The Sioux Falls Christian volleyball team defended its title in the Class A championship match against Dakota Valley, winning in straight sets, Saturday.

Set scores were 25-22, 25-16, 25-15.

Kristin Stern recorded 10 kills and eight aces in the win. Hayley McCarron had 28 set assists, five kills and one block and Stacy Smidt had nine kills and five blocks.

Dakota Valley's Lindsey Smith had 15 set assists and two aces and Shyler Funck tallied 13 digs.

Sioux Valley 3, Belle Fourche 0

WATERTOWN -- Sioux Valley took third place at the Class A state volleyball tournament Saturday, defeating Belle Fourche 3-0.

Set scores were 25-18, 25-17, 25-23.

Sioux Valley's Haley Hillestad led all players with 16 kills. Kaylee VanderWal recorded 30 set assists and 10 digs.

Belle Fourche had two players with double-digit kill numbers. Fehrin Ward and Shelbie Budmayr had 10 kills apiece and Liz Day added 30 set assists in the loss.

Sioux Valley 3, Belle Fourche 0

WATERTOWN -- Mobridge-Pollock defeated Pine Ridge in four sets for seventh place at the Class A state volleyball tournament Saturday in Watertown.

Set scores were 25-15, 19-25, 25-22, 25-17.

Mobridge-Pollock's Kady Pinney led all players with 17 kills. Pinney also had 18 digs. Callie Slater recorded 35 set assists in the win.

Pine Ridge's Lynette Bettelyoun had 13 kills and 11 digs. Anissa Martin tallied 31 set assists, 17 digs and six kills.

Warner 3, Arlington 0

The Warner Monarchs won the Class B state volleyball title, defeating Arlington 25-16, 25-13, 25-14 Saturday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.

Warner's Miranda Ristau had 12 kills and Carly Rozell added 10 kills. Ashley Rozell tallied 31 set assists, seven digs and four aces.

Arlington's Samantha Boeck recorded nine kills, six digs and one block. Brett Heuer had 17 set assists and two kills.

Parker 3, James Valley Christian 0

Parker defeated James Valley Christian in straight sets to finish in third place at the Class B state volleyball tournament Saturday in Mitchell.

Set scores were 25-20, 25-20, 25-19.

Parker's Allison Sanner led all players with 14 kills. Tessa Weeldreyer recorded 13 kills, four aces and four blocks in the win.

JVC's Tara Nihart had 20 set assists, 14 digs and three aces. Jaclyn Loban tallied eight kills and 18 digs in the loss.
