SD Tourism launches fall marketing campaign
PIERRE (AP) — As fall approaches, South Dakota Tourism officials are shifting their focus to older leisure travelers and pheasant hunters.
The Capital Journal reports (http://bit.ly/16BB3Mf) that the fall months have grown in popularity in recent years as a good time to travel, especially for people 55 and older with no children in school. The state Tourism Department is targeting those leisure travelers through various types of ads in Minneapolis; Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Neb.; and Kansas City, Mo.
The department also is reaching out to outdoorsmen, particularly members of the Pheasants Forever organization. South Dakota's pheasant hunting season opens Oct. 19 and runs through Jan. 5.
