SD students earn career readiness honors
PIERRE — During the 2013-2014 school year, 2,085 students from 53 schools completed assessments to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate, or NCRC.
The area schools and the number of students who received the NCRC certification include: Avon, 23; Corsica, 27; Gregory, 26; Kimball, 30; Lyman, 27; Menno, 18; Mount Vernon, 32; Parkston, 37; Platte, 30; Sanborn Central, 14; South Central, 14; and Stickney, 22.
The opportunity for South Dakota high school juniors and seniors to obtain an NCRC resulted from a joint workforce development effort between the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation and Department of Education.
