SD PAC treasurer admits campaign violation
PIERRE (AP) — A former state prosecutor has pleaded guilty to a campaign law violation while serving as treasurer of a South Dakota political action committee.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says 41-year-old Scott Swier, of Avon, pleaded guilty Thursday in Pierre to one count of failing to file or amend a statement of organization for a PAC, a class 2 misdemeanor.
The charges stemmed from a donation that Swier received while he was treasurer of the South Dakota Telecommunications PAC.
Swier's fines were suspended on the condition that he returns $6,500 to Free Conferencing Corp. and follows the law in the future.
He's now in private practice.
