PIERRE (AP) — A state legislative panel is looking at a bill that would allow former South Dakota residents to get special waterfowl hunting licenses if they are sponsored by relatives who still live in the state.

The measure would provide special hunting licenses for nonresidents who were born in South Dakota or who had previously lived and hunted in the state. They would have to hunt with relatives who sponsor them.

The measure narrowly passed the House of Representatives a couple of weeks ago. The Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee holds a hearing on the bill Tuesday.
