The president has said he will seek congressional backing for limited strikes against Syria for allegedly using chemical weapons.

The Argus Leader reports (http://argusne.ws/14jnW1b ) that Democratic Sen. Tim Johnson has not taken a position on whether the U.S. should retaliate against Syria, but he says Obama is correct to seek congressional approval.

Republican Sen. John Thune says it's important for the president to present his case to the American people and build a coalition of support from other countries before taking action.

Republican Rep. Kristi Noem says she is opposed to strikes against Syria, but the issue needs to be debated by Congress and the public.
