SD ag official to be on fed trade mission to China
PIERRE (AP) -- An official with South Dakota's Agriculture Department is taking part in a federal trade mission to China.
Ag Development Director Lucas Lentsch will be part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture trip from March 23-28. It will be led by USDA Acting Undersecretary Michael Scuse and will include representatives of six state agriculture departments and more than 40 agribusinesses from around the country.
Officials announced last week that Gov. Dennis Daugaard will lead a group of South Dakota business leaders and two of his Cabinet members including Agriculture Secretary Walt Bones on a trade mission to China March 24-29.
China was South Dakota's third-largest trading partner last year, with $105 million worth of South Dakota goods shipped to the country.
